We do a big (many courses) Christmas dinner. One of my jobs is the soup. While we have several foods that are Required (ie., we would be lynched if they did not appear), the tradition of the soup is that it changes every year. I'm in the process of quitting my job and going back to school. I'm moving next week (into a place with my own kitchen, not a dorm) and I'll have a few days before the beginning of classes. On Sundays, my husband and I cook our meals for the week. We usually cook one-pot wonders, casseroles and/or soups/stews. We have also done burritos in bulk and freezed them and this has worked pretty well. We try to do more than one a week so that we have some variety. As I sat here snowed in, I had a craving for some soup. Emptied my veggie drawer of anything that might be on the verge of dying and got to making some veggie soup. Sweet and comforting...makes the snow not seem so bad. :)

so i've made veggie soup plenty of times - saute onions and garlic, add veggie broth and frozen veggies + thyme and a bay leaf and you've got soup. Except this time I tried trader joe's broth and it's just awful. i usually love TJs but this stuff is badbadbad. I usually use regular grocery store stuff but I'm out.
